School & Day Program Support Across the GTA

Dedicated 1:1 educational assistant-style support for students and adult day program participants. Our associates implement IEPs and behaviour support plans alongside school and program staff.

Service Overview

What This Service Provides

Many students with complex behavioural or developmental needs do best with consistent 1:1 support throughout the school day. When public board EA assignment is limited, when a family wants additional consistency, or when a school needs trained behavioural support to keep a placement viable, Dasdey provides dedicated school-day associates.

Our associates work in public, Catholic, and private school settings across the GTA, supporting students with autism, developmental disabilities, behavioural challenges, mental health needs, and dual diagnosis. We also support adults in day programs, vocational placements, and post-secondary transition programs. Every associate carries a current Vulnerable Sector Screening, holds Ministry-approved crisis intervention training, and has experience with Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and Behaviour Support Plans (BSPs).

Engagement begins with coordination between the school team, family, and our associate so that everyone is aligned on goals, strategies, and communication. Our associates are not there to replace teachers or board EAs, they are there to make sure the student has the consistent, qualified, behaviourally-skilled presence they need to learn and stay regulated.

We meet with the family, school team, and any clinical team to review the IEP, BSP, daily schedule, and goals.

2

Associate Match

We assign an associate with the right credentials, behavioural training, and experience for the student's age and presenting needs.

3

Start of Term

Associate starts in the school setting, often beginning with a few transition days. Daily communication keeps the family and team informed.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Can your associate enter my child's public school?
Yes, in most cases. Public school boards in Ontario typically allow outside 1:1 support workers when the family arranges and funds it, subject to the school's specific policies (background checks, insurance verification, sign-in procedures). We provide all required documentation and can liaise with the principal or special education coordinator.
Are you a replacement for a board-assigned EA?
No. We complement board-assigned support, we do not replace it. Many of our families use Dasdey associates because the board's EA assignment is shared across multiple students, or because the student needs more consistency than the board can provide.
Will the same associate work the entire school year?
That is our goal. School-day support depends on consistency. We do everything we can to keep the same associate in place for the full school year, with backup coverage planned in advance for unexpected absences.
Do you support private and independent schools?
Yes. We work in private, independent, Montessori, and faith-based schools across the GTA, often with even more flexibility than the public system allows.
Do you support adult day programs?
Yes. We provide 1:1 enhancement support inside community day programs and vocational programs for adults with developmental disabilities, autism, and dual diagnosis. This is often funded through Passport.
What about school holidays and PA days?
Many families use Dasdey for after-school support, PA day coverage, and school holiday support to keep routines and skills consistent year-round.
